Crossing the Meridian: Carrying Her From Stills Into Motion

Every character here eventually crosses the meridian — the moment a proven still is asked to move. Crossings are where series quietly change their woman: the video tool receives a fresh description, and the performer who arrives is a near relation of the one the stills proved. The crossing has a ceremony here, and it is short.

First, the still itself is sighted against the transit card one last time; a still that fails the card never crosses. Second, the still is composed for travel: room around the subject, a direction left open, one movement that can be said in a single sentence. Third, the card is pasted word for word at the head of the video brief, so the moving performer is observed against the same fixed line as the still one.

The clip is then judged at three viewings — once for identity against the card, once for the motion itself, once for edges — before a single finishing credit is discussed. A clip that fails identity returns across the meridian as a cull, whatever it cost.

Cross deliberately and the woman who moves is the woman who posed. Cross casually, and the series gains a stranger at its most expensive moment.
